Ingredients

• 1 cup butter
• Sugar (2 cups — the amount appears in the directions, not the ingredient list), plus more for rolling
• 2 eggs
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 2 ⅔ cups of sifted flour
• 1 tsp. cream of tartar
• 1 tsp. soda
• 1 tsp. salt

Directions

Cream butter and 2 cups of sugar, beat in eggs. Add vanilla and dry ingredients, mix well. Chill.

Form into balls from tsp., roll in sugar and press lightly onto cookie sheet.

Bake at 350° until done.
